For four years running, 155 Borden Gray G.C. Royal Canadian Air Cadets from Sault Ste. Marie have won air cadet top drill team without arms and top drill team commander honours at the Northern Ontario Band and Drill Competition.

The team captured its fourth title Sunday at Memorial Gardens in North Bay, beating 16 competitors covering an area from Huntsville north to Timmins, and from North Bay to the Sault.

cadets2-jpgw960h640bgcolor000000Top overall drill went to 46 Royal Sovereign Sea Cadets from Sault Ste. Marie, narrowly beating 155 in a three-point spread.

46 Sovereign will next compete May 29th in the regional competition in Trenton, Ontario.

****************************************** Local sea cadet band tops in Northern Ontario

The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps “Royal Sovereign” from Sault Ste. Marie walked away with several honours at the Northern Ontario Band and Drill Competition this past weekend in North Bay.

cadets3-jpgw960h640bgcolor000000In the band competition they won Top Band Overall, Top Drum and Bugle Band and Top Sea Cadet Band.

This was the second year in a row that they won all three awards.

They beat six other bands covering an area from Huntsville north to Timmins, and from North Bay to the Sault.

Their musical selections consisted of House of the Rising Sun, La Bamba, Joy to the World, Tequila and Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In.

Their drum major, CPO2 Nick Fraser, received the Top Drum Major Award.

cadets5-jpgw960h640bgcolor000000In the Drill Without Arms competition they won Top Overall Drill Team and Top Sea Cadet Drill Team.

There were 16 drill teams representing sea, army and air cadet units across Northern Ontario.

Their Drill Without Arms commander, CPO2 Melissa St. Louis, received the Top Drill Commander Award.

Both these teams will represent the Northern Ontario Area at the Central Region Band and Drill Competition on May 29th in Trenton, Ontario.
