********************** 155 Borden Gray G.C. Royal Canadian Air Cadets are returning home to Sault Ste. Marie with several more trophies and happy cadets following a successful Northern Ontario Band and Drill Competition in North Bay.

Cadets WO2 Andrew Pihlaja won Top Air Cadet Drill Team Commander.

Drum Major Josh MacFarlane won top air cadet Pipes & Drums drum major.

155 squadron won top air cadet Brass and Reed band and top air drum major went to Flight Sergeant Ashley Perrin.

Congratulations go out to the 40 Air Cadets of 155 who participated in the annual event. The squadron submitted 4 teams for the competition, including 2 bands (Pipes & Drums and Brass & Reed) and 2 drill teams (With and Without Arms)

********************** Local sea cadet band tops in Northern Ontario – again!

The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps “Royal Sovereign” from Sault Ste. Marie walked away with several honours at the Northern Ontario Band and Drill Competition this past weekend in North Bay.

In the band competition they won Top Band Overall, Top Drum and Bugle Band and Top Sea Cadet Band.

This was the third year in a row that their band won all three awards.

155aircadets2005-5-jpgw960h640bgcolor000000They beat nine other bands covering an area from Huntsville north to Timmins, and from North Bay to the Sault.

Their musical selections consisted of California Dreamin’, Old Time Rock and Roll, Celebration, Tactical Instinct and Funky Fragments.

Their drum major, CPO2 Nick Fraser, received the Top Drum Major Award.

In the Drill Without Arms competition they won Top Sea Cadet Drill Team.

155aircadets2005-3-jpgw960h640bgcolor000000Their Drill Without Arms commander, CPO2 Melissa St. Louis, received the Top Sea Cadet Drill Commander Award.

They also won Top Sea Cadet Drill With Arms Team.

Their band will represent the Northern Ontario Area at the Central Region Band and Drill Competition on May 28th in Trenton, Ontario.
