155 Borden Gray receives Strathcona Trust Trophy!

155 Borden Grey Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron received the Strathcona Trust Trophy last night at the Pine Street Armoury.  The award recognizes that the 155 Sqn. placed 3rd overall proficiency among 112 other Air Cadet Squadrons across Ontario for the 2009/2010 training year. Presenting the award was Don Berrill, Ontario Provincial Chair of the Air Cadet League of Canada.

The award reads, the vision and generosity of a great Canadian, Lord Strathcona, created this trophy. It is awarded to a cadet squadron as the most efficient in its class and perpetuates the solicitude of the donor for patriotism, fitness and discipline in young Canadians. He believed that the first duty of a free citizen is to be prepared to defend his country.

Also recognized at Wednesday night’s parade was, Tyler and Brett Davie who recently returned from this year’s National Cadet Biathlon with two medals each. Tyler won a Gold and Silver. Brett Davie won two Gold Medals while competing with cadets from across Canada in Valcartier Quebec. Capt Steve Mullins, Commanding Officer of the 155 Sqn. Air was presented his Canadian Decoration for 12 years of service to the Canadian Forces.

The Air Cadet program is open to boys and Girls, ages 12 to 18 and is free to join with uniforms provided. The 155 Sqn. Meets on Wednesday nights at the Pine Street Armoury at 6:30 pm. For more information call 705- 949-6808 or www.cadets.ca .
